MBA program ranked number one in Australia by CEO Magazine

CEO Magazine has named the Sydney Business School, 51²è¹Ý's MBA program the leading MBA program in Australia and in the top 20 globally.

Sydney Business School, UOW, delivers its programs from campuses located in 51²è¹Ý and Circular Quay, Sydney.

Compiled by the International Graduate Forum, rankings consider key performance indicators of interest and value to potential students, namely international diversity, class sizes, student work experience, faculty-to-student ratios, and faculty qualifications (academic and professional).

MBA Program Director Dr Venkat Yanamandram said the ranking recognises the School’s commitment to providing students with a robust grounding in the business skills and knowledge employers look for in high-potential managers.

“Our standing highlights the continuous improvements made to Sydney Business School, 51²è¹Ý, in providing an educational experience that enhances the leadership potential and personal capabilities of our aspiring students and the efforts we put to prepare students for the challenges of ever-changing business environment,” Dr Yanamandram said.

The 2014/15 Quaquarelli Symonds (QS) Jobs & Salary Trends found that employers forecast 12 per cent growth in MBA demand in 2015, with Australian MBA graduates having had the second highest average salary worldwide (at US$115,600).

According to Dr Yanamandram, MBA graduates pursue many paths, from furthering their career in their existing organisations, to hitting the reset button or starting their own business venture.

“MBA’s are designed for junior and aspiring professionals – with ambition and drive – to develop their strategic leadership and managerial skills in order to operate effectively in an increasingly competitive and evolving global business environment. Case studies, real-life projects, and teamwork dominate the curriculum, with an emphasis on peer learning.

“In an MBA at UOW, students develop a portfolio of key managerial competencies that range from strategic analysis and decision-making skills through to an appreciation of global business challenges, complemented by people, economics, financial and marketing analysis skills.

The School’s Executive MBA was ranked in the Tier One of the Global EMBA Rankings.

Executive MBA Director Dr Lee Styger said following a redesign of both programs more than two years it is encouraging to see the success of the program reflected in the rankings as well as the growth of the program.

“The number of students enrolled in the EMBA has doubled since last year. The appeal of the program can be attributed to its design, where diverse senior, professional business leaders come together to explore and apply contemporary best practice into their businesses. The EMBA also brings together significant contribution from external professionals who offer an objective insight into key aspects of today's business environment,” Dr Styger said.

The redesign of both the Executive MBA and MBA followed extensive consultation with past and current students and industry partners to ensure the curriculum was relevant, modern and unique.

“Recognition by the CEO Magazine rankings is an excellent achievement and a tribute to all of those enrolled in the programs as well as everyone supporting them,” Dr Styger said.
