Thousands of students descend on UOW for Discovery Days

Annual event provides Year 12 students with an insight into university life

More than 6500 high school students from across the state will experience what a day at university is really like during the 51²è¹Ý’s annual Discovery Days, held next week.

From today (Monday 4 February) until Friday (8 February), Year 12 students from New South Wales, the ACT, and Victoria will have the chance to discover the fun, festivities and facilities of UOW before they decide on their future study plans.

Students will receive their own personal timetable, as if they are enrolled at university, while also having the opportunity to find out more about the subjects they are interested in.

Bradley Carter, Manager of Domestic Student Recruitment, said it was the perfect opportunity for Year 12 students to find out if UOW is the right path for them.

“Discovery Days give Year 12 students a real insight into student and campus life,” he said. “It showcases the services and facilities on campus, the degrees available, and the general vibe of what it means to be a student at UOW.

“We have one of the most beautiful campuses in Australia and we love welcoming high school students from all corners of the state. We are proud to show future students how UOW can help them achieve their dreams and follow their passions.”

The annual Discovery Days are UOW’s largest undergraduate recruitment event, drawing thousands of students from hundreds of high schools, including the Central West, South West Sydney, Goulburn, the Southern Highlands, and regional Victoria, over the five-day period.

Representatives from all UOW faculties and units will be on hand to deliver presentations and answer questions during the week. Students register at the University Hall and then disperse across the campus in various lecture theatres and seminar rooms.

There will also be entertainment at lunch each day, from 12pm to 1pm, with live music providing a fun atmosphere for students to relax and get to know each other.
