COVID-19 response update: 20 Mar 2020
Students given flexibility with changes to key dates
The 51²è¹Ý (UOW) has moved to reassure and assist students by offering flexibility and granting important concessions as it breaks for an early mid-session recess to prepare its transition to online course delivery.
Census date deferred
Census date—the date after which students become financially liable for their enrolments—has been deferred from 31 March until 16 April. This will give students an opportunity to experience UOW’s remote study offerings before they are financially committed to their chosen subjects.
Enrolment deadline extended
The deadline to enrol in subjects has also been extended to Friday 3 April in recognition of the disruption caused to the normal enrolment process by the COVID-19 outbreak.
Autumn session assessments
The University has confirmed that when Autumn session classes resume from 6 April via online delivery, assessments will also be conducted in remote mode or via other arrangements.
Subject coordinators will provide their students with updated details about assessments and examination requirements as soon as that information is available.
Students have been assured that they do not need to make any changes to their enrolment and that alternative arrangements being put in place for subjects with practical course components will be communicated by subject coordinators.
Some clinical placements and workshops will continue, with social distancing and other health precautions being put in place.
Student services amenities fee waived
Acknowledging the impact COVID-19 has had in reducing the ability students will have to access its campus experience, UOW has waived the Student Services and Amenities Fee (SSAF) for the first half of 2020 and will be reversing charges before the due date.
This waiver will also apply to Graduate School of Medicine and Sydney Business School students who operate on different session dates.
