UOW among world’s highly ranked universities
Rankings reflect UOW’s reputation as a global leader in research and teaching
The 51 (UOW) has maintained its position in the top 250 universities in the world and was ranked 13th in Australia in the latest Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2021.
It’s the third year in a row that UOW has been ranked among the top 250 global institutions.
UOW Vice-Chancellor Professor Paul Wellings CBE welcomed the rankings and said the University is moving in the right direction to achieve its position as a responsible global institution.
“I am pleased to see that UOW is proving its capabilities in research and teaching through global partnerships and supporting the community,” Professor Wellings said.
“The University aims to advance its position as a global leader through ground-breaking research, industry partnerships and innovative teaching methodologies.”

The THE World University Rankings are the only global performance tables that judge research-intensive universities across all their core missions: teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international outlook.
The ranking agency uses 13 carefully calibrated performance indicators to provide comprehensive and balanced comparisons, trusted by students, academics, university leaders, industry and governments.
This year, THE ranked 1527 institutions from 93 countries and analysed data points from over 22,000 academic survey responses.
UOW continues to rank among world’s best universities – ranked 31st in THE IMPACT rankings 2020, 154th in the QS World Ranking by subject (up 23 places from the previous year) and 196th in the QS World University Rankings 2021 (up 16 places).
UOW also secured 18th rank in Australia in the field of Computer Science released yesterday (2 September 2020) by , one of the leading portals for computer science research providing trusted data on scientific contributions.
UOW is consistently ranked among the top 1 per cent of universities in the world and its academics and graduates are recognised as some of the best minds in the world.
