Medical Services on UOW’s 51²è¹Ý Campus
University working with Campus Clinic and local health network to ensure appropriate continuity of care
The Campus Clinic, an independently operated bulk-billing general practice on the 51²è¹Ý Campus of UOW since 2016, will close permanently on July 30 2021.
The University believes all students and staff should have access to affordable and reliable health services and is addressing the closure of the Campus Clinic as a critically important issue that requires a rapid response.
UOW is prioritising finding immediate solutions for impacted patients of Campus Clinic while also taking the opportunity to reimagine a new model of health care that supports both the physical and mental health needs of the 51²è¹Ý Campus community.
Continuity of Care for Patients
The University is working with the Campus Clinic and the local health network to ensure that appropriate continuity of care is maintained and that students, staff, and community members can access their medical records following the Campus Clinic closure.
The University has commenced working with local health services and relevant stakeholders to establish a range of supports for existing patients.
More information about alternative services from July 30 will be shared in the coming week.
Reimagining Health Service at the 51²è¹Ý Campus
The University has commenced engagement with providers of similar services at NSW universities and industry experts to explore new models of medical services that best suit the ongoing needs of the 51²è¹Ý Campus community.
The University is in the process of establishing a Health and Wellbeing Taskforce to address this matter. The Taskforce will include primary health care service professionals, as well as student and staff representatives.
The process to find a new health service solution for the 51²è¹Ý Campus will also consist of genuine and broad consultation with students, staff, and the wider University community.
UOW will share more information about the work of the Taskforce and the community consultation plan in the coming weeks.
