Statement of support for the Afghan people
Support services available for students and staff from an Afghan background
The 51²è¹Ý expresses its support for the Afghan people and all those impacted by the unfolding humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan.
Our thoughts are with our students, staff and alumni from an Afghan background, their families and friends, members of the Afghan diaspora in our communities, and our friends and colleagues in Afghanistan.
We are very mindful that that they will be feeling worried, distressed and fearful during this challenging time, particularly those with family or friends based in Afghanistan. We are deeply concerned for their safety and wellbeing.
In particular we would like to assure current students and staff from an Afghan background that their welfare is our highest priority, and that we are here to support them.
Any students finding the current situation difficult to deal with are encouraged to access the support services (including our free 24/7 Student Wellbeing Support Line) available.
As an institution with a global outlook and a commitment to working collaboratively to solve the complex problems the world faces, and to addressing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, the University is firmly committed to supporting human rights everywhere.
