UOW officially opens first on campus pharmacy

Pharmacy to enrich University's vibrant community experience

Students, staff and community at the 51 (UOW) will now benefit from a convenient access to the pharmacy located in Building 11 of the 51 campus.

After receiving an overwhelming positive feedback from the UOW community, Advantage Pharmacy was officially opened today (Wednesday 17 March 2021) by UOW Vice-Chancellor Paul Wellings CBE in the presence of UOW community members.

Professor Wellings said the pharmacy will enrich the University’s vibrant campus life and the UOW community will greatly benefit from it.

“I would like to thank both UOW Pulse and the University Staff for supporting local businesses and working closely over the last 18 months to get a pharmacy on campus, which will prove to be of great convenience for UOW community,” Professor Wellings said.

“The new pharmacy in Building 11 will complement our Medical precint and further add to our University’s ultimate dynamic and engaging campus community environment that will enrich UOW’s community experience.”

The pharmacy is owned by a 51 local, Vlade Jankulovski who has lived locally and worked as a Community Pharmacist for the past 27 years.

Vlade completed his degree in Pharmacy in 1994 from the University of Sydney and his registration period at Warrawong Amcal Chemist where he progressed to the management role for 5 years.

In 1999, Vlade became a part owner of Warrawong Amcal Chemist, expanding in partnership to acquire additional Pharmacies and eventually establishing a medical centre.

He said the pharmacy started trading on Friday 26 February 2021 and has already received best wishes and overwhelming positive feedback from the UOW community, and looks forward to this new journey and his association with the University.

“In late 2020 I was presented with the opportunity to open a pharmacy on UOW campus, which has been a significant project to undertake but a refreshing challenge,” Mr Jankulovski said.

“I would like to thank UOW Pulse and UOW for supporting me and making our team feel welcome from the very start of this journey.”

“My team believes in providing trusted advice whilst delivering exceptional customer service for community’s health needs.”

The pharmacy will be open Monday to Friday from 9 am – 5 pm and offers a variety of over the counter and non-prescription items with all medical and personal hygiene products.
