UOW wins at Australian Awards for University Teaching
Award recognises outstanding learning and support services
The 51²è¹Ý (UOW) co-curricular learning program, UOWx, has received a Student Experiences and Learning Support Services Award in the prestigious Australian Awards for University Teaching (AAUT).
The awards, established in 1997 by the Australian Government to celebrate and reward programs and practices that enhance students' learning experience, recognise the outstanding efforts made by educators and the impact they have on students' learning and teaching outcomes.
Some 14 nominations were submitted across the country for the 'awards for program that enhance learning' category, with UOW named among four winners in that category.
The University's UOWx program connects students with opportunities outside of their academic coursework that receive formal recognition.
UOW Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Education) Professor Theo Farrell congratulated the UOWx team for their outstanding efforts and dedication to serve in students' best interests and help them succeed in their academic careers.
"It gives me great pleasure to congratulate the UOWx team for winning the AAUT's Student Experiences and Learning Support Services Award.
“It is fabulous to see the outstanding work of this team work recognised in this way. Your success is a huge credit to the University," Professor Farrell said.
UOWx encompasses the personal development and active citizenship of students, and translates the learnings from these opportunities to their chosen discipline, and to the community and workforce. UOWx enhances graduate employability, contributing to our graduates being highly sought after in an increasingly competitive graduate market.
Students can explore and apply for opportunities and activities through UOWx under within six categories: Global & Cultural Awareness; Leadership; Innovation & Creativity; Mentoring & Wellbeing; Collaboration & Communication; and Community & Social Change.
These co-curricular activities are recorded in the University's official record and students can showcase the skills and knowledge gained throughout their academic career at UOW.
