UOW College Hong Kong opens state-of-the-art Tai Wai campus

New campus facility a milestone in strategic development, accommodating up to 3,300 students

51²è¹Ý (UOW) Vice-Chancellor and President Professor Patricia Davidson will officially open UOW College Hong Kong’s new state-of-the-art Tai Wai campus today (September 15, 2023)

Joining Professor Davidson at the opening were distinguished guests including Ms Elizabeth Ward, the Australian Consul-General in Hong Kong; Dr. Choi Yuk-lin, JP, Secretary for Education; Mr. Nicolas Brooke, Chairman of the Board of Governors of UOW College Hong Kong, UOW College Hong Kong President Ms Currie Tsang and UOW Global Enterprises CEO Marisa Mastroianni.

“The opening of our Tai Wai campus is a reminder that our impact is global, and our vision reaches far beyond the beautiful shores of 51²è¹Ý in Australia,” Professor Davidson said.

“This new campus represents a key milestone in our strategic development. This impressive modern space will accommodate up to 3,300 students and feature many impressive facilities – from an auditorium and a spacious library to a unique purpose-built maritime laboratory, creating an inspiring learning environment for all.

“UOW stands proudly among the top one per cent of universities worldwide, which is a testament to our commitment to world-class education and ground-breaking research.”

“I would also like to acknowledge the work of UOW Global Enterprises, including Chair John Green and CEO Marisa Mastroianni, for their continued leadership and direction.”

UOW Global Enterprises Chief Executive Officer Marisa Mastroianni said the College has evolved into a premier institution, supported by UOW Australia and its global network of educational excellence.

“Through our strong affiliations with UOW Australia and its renowned offshore campuses in Malaysia and Dubai, students at UOW College Hong Kong experience an international education that empowers them to perform not just in Hong Kong but also on the global stage,” she said.

“We believe that this extensive global network will contribute a pivotal role in bolstering Hong Kong's growth as an educational hub and fostering diversity within the region. This official inauguration of the campus marks a significant milestone in UOW College Hong Kong’s commitment to providing world-class education and fostering academic excellence.”

The opening ceremony will include performances showcasing the College’s dedication to innovation and cultural diversity, including a dynamic lion dance, poetry recital by students, and a musical performance featuring the iconic didgeridoo—a symbolic celebration of the cultural exchange between Australia and Hong Kong.

A commemorative plaque will be unveiled to officially mark the inauguration of UOW College Hong Kong's Tai Wai Campus. This act lends symbolic significance to the College's new chapter in providing exceptional education and shaping the future of aspiring minds.
