UOW Eurobodalla opens study spaces for HSC students

In lead up to exams, regional campus to provide quiet space for students to focus on studies

The 51²è¹Ý (UOW) is providing a safe, quiet space for Year 12 in the Eurobodalla region to undertake their HSC studies in the leadup to exams.

UOW Eurobodalla, located in Batemans Bay, has opened dedicated study spaces for HSC students to ensure they are given everything they need for exam success.

Every Wednesday and Thursday, from 30 August to 5 October, students can access quiet or group study spaces, HSC resources, free Wi-Fi, and UOW computers. And lots of snacks.

The spaces will be open from 3pm to 7pm.

UOW Eurobodalla Campus Manager Jaimey Facchin said the dedicated study spaces will help students to focus on their work without the distractions that can often come at home.

“During the delivery of our Year 12 Future Me Program, we made the decision to open the campus as a study space. The students revealed that it can be challenging to find quiet study space at home, particularly after school hours.

“There can be younger siblings and parents that can add to the noise and distraction levels in a house,” Ms Facchin said. “The public library, which is attached to our campus building, is the only publicly available space in the region for students to use for study.

“The Future Me students really enjoy coming on campus and have become comfortable here, so it makes sense to create a dedicated study space prior to the HSC.”

UOW Eurobodalla has also partnered on the initiative with Eurobodalla Shire Council Library, which will open the library after hours on Thursdays for HSC students.

The Year 12 Future Me Program helps students to improve their HSC study skills, prepare for important decision making, and explore their options for life post-high school.
