UOW India and IBM partnership to enhance educational experience and career readiness
Innovative program will provide cutting-edge industry experience to students
The 51²è¹Ý India (UOW India) and IBM have signed a partnership agreement to enhance the educational experience and career readiness of students. This collaboration will focus on several key initiatives to provide students with industry-relevant skills and opportunities while pursuing a degree at UOW India.
IBM’s premier education program, IBM Innovation Centre for Education (ICE), offers cutting-edge courses under key technology areas that equip students with in-demand IT skills and expertise required to succeed in the industry.
UOW India joins an elite group of engineering institutes in India to have the opportunity to collaborate with IBM, offering our students access to IBM ICE’s advanced training and educational resources.
UOW India Campus Director Nimay Kalyani said the partnership with IBM is a gamechanger initiative and will immensely benefit students by collaborating with the industry leader.
“We are delighted to partner with IBM to provide a rich experience to students,” Mr Kalyani said.
“Through this partnership our students will benefit from placements across a diverse range of sectors, including multinational corporations, global system integrator organisations, independent software vendors, leading research and development organisations, domain business houses, start-ups, and entrepreneurial ventures.
“The collaboration aims to equip students with industry-acknowledged and valued skills and knowledge, ensuring they are well-prepared for the demands of the modern workforce.”
Qualified students will have access to internship placements and career opportunities with various leading organisations across MNC’s, Global System Integrators, Domain sectors – Banks/Telecom/Insurance/ Healthcare/Fin-tech/e-commerce/Insurance/and many more – across the globe.
Professor Mai El Barachi, Head of School at the School of Computer Science at UOW Dubai, said the partnership will enrich UOW India’s academic offerings and strengthen our students’ competitiveness in the global job market.
“The partnership emphasises practical, hands-on learning experiences that align with industry needs and trends,” Professor El Barachi said.
“The collaboration will focus on training in emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, cloud technologies, big data and business analytics, cyber security, gaming technologies, contextual mobility, and blockchain technologies.
“The partnership underscores our commitment to providing a world-class education that equips our students with the skills and knowledge needed to excel in today's rapidly evolving job market.”
Professor El Barachi played an instrumental role in enabling this partnership on behalf of UOW India and will continue to support UOW India to replicate the success of the UOW Dubai - IBM partnership.

IBM Innovation Centre for Education, IBM India/South Asia Leader – Business Relationship, Hari Ramasubramanian said: “UOW will be delivering deep-rich technology integrated curriculum in the classroom.
“IBM will be systematically enabling the faculty team on these courses, through teach the teacher workshops, webinars, industry guest lectures and student interactions with subject matter experts from the industry.
“The students will have access to an online platform, to access courseware, projects, guest lectures, competitions, and discussion forums to enhance their knowledge and skills real-time.
“This initiative from IBM has been helping skill the student community on niche technology skills across many countries – over the last 13+ years. On successful completion of the program, the students will be awarded with an electronic badge from IBM.”
