Virtual Global Hackathon: Innovation Through SDGs

Activity overview

How is this program run?

This program is currently on hold.

What will I do?

Join a global team of students from two other universities in Dubai and Israel in a hackathon for advancing a solution to a global problem. The teams competing in this challenge will experience an innovation and entrepreneurship "pitch" development, and their submitted presentations will be judged by industry experts from all three countries. Judges include members of Social Enterprise Council of NSW & ACT, EcoIT, Bluescope Steel, and UOW Alumni.

As a team, you will:

  • Develop an innovating solution to the presented SDG challenge.
  • Present your solution in a recorded presentation to the judges.
  • Receive feedback on your idea, pitch, and presentation.

How will I benefit?

In this program you will develop:

  • Collaborative teamwork: You will work closely in an intense "hackathon" (two weeks) with a virtual team.
  • Global awareness: You will learn about an SDG in a variety of countries.
  • Intercultural communication: You will work with members from various cultures.
  • Innovation and entrepreneurship: Learn to develop a business pitch to a business audience.
  • Public speaking: Experience presenting your ideas.
