Danielle Bracamonte will soon be flying high after winning a state wide competition to gain an internship at Qantas.

Danielle, who is competing her third year of a Bachelor of Commerce majoring in Human Resource Management and Marketing entered the Australian Human Resources Institute ā€œGet Your Big Break competition,ā€ in hope of taking out the coveted prize.

Winning students will be placed in the HR department of a leading organisation to gain work experience. The outcome will also ā€œessentially provide an advantage for their CVs when it comes time to graduateā€ said Danielle. As the NSW state finalist, Danielle will undertake her internship at Qantas.

The third year student revealed that her MGMT322 lecturer encouraged the cohort to enter. "The fact that Qantas was the host organisation for the NSW winner was also a huge encouragement to enter as Iā€™ve always hoped to work for Australiaā€™s leading airline.ā€

Students had to write a 50 words piece why they wanted to work for a leading organisation and were shortlisted for the organisations who choose the final winner. ā€œOut of the shortlisted entries,ā€ Danielle explained. ā€œI was lucky enough to be chosen as my state winner, which meant I was allocated to Qantas.ā€

Danielleā€™s placement will be at Qantas Head Office in Mascot, Sydney where she will gain experience in various areas including employee and manager support, learning and development, customer care, people services and the integrated operations centre.

ā€œIā€™m looking forward to gaining insight into a number of Qantas HR areas so I can get a better idea of what specific area Iā€™d like to work in post graduation. I am also so excited to have the opportunity to network during my time there and hopefully, one day, even work for them,ā€ said Danielle.
